The South African Oil & Gas Alliance invites you to join us on our SAOGA Ugandan Oil & Gas focused Business Trade Mission from 27th April to 4th May 2025. This mission offers once again unparalleled opportunities for collaboration and investment in one of Africa's most promising Oil & Gas locations. This SAOGA Mission will include attendance at the UGANDA ENERGY CONVENTION (https://ec.ucem.ug/) in Kampala, and planned Site Visits to the Lake Albert Oil Fields, namely Tilenga and Kingfisher, in Hoima.

The Uganda Chamber of Energy & Minerals (UCEM), in partnership with the Ministry of Energy & Mineral Development (MEMD), is organizing the 10th Energy Convention (formerly the Oil & Gas Convention). This event aims to build on the successes of previous editions, address emerging sector challenges and foster continued development. 

The Uganda Energy Convention will take place from 29th & 30th April 2025, in Kampala, under the theme: “Integrating Oil, Gas, and Renewable Energy for a Sustainable Future.” The Lake Albert Oil Field Site Visits will take place from the 1st to 3rd May 2025, in Hoima, visiting the Tilenga and Kingfisher Site.

Uganda stands at a critical juncture in energy development, leveraging its vast oil and gas resources while advancing renewable energy adoption. The energy sector remains central to achieving Uganda’s National Development Plan IV (2025–2030), addressing energy access, affordability, and sustainability. 

In late 2023, Uganda unveiled its Energy Transition Plan during the COP28 Climate Summit in Dubai, marking a significant step toward a sustainable energy future. The plan outlines the country’s commitment to balancing its reliance on fossil fuels with the adoption of renewable energy sources, including solar, wind, and geothermal. It focuses on enhancing energy security, reducing emissions, and supporting economic growth while ensuring social and environmental sustainability.

Since its inception, the annual Energy Convention has served as a premier platform for stakeholders to exchange insights, foster collaborations, and shape policies that drive the sector forward. 

The 10th Energy Convention in 2025 is a landmark event, expanding its focus beyond oil and gas to include critical energy sources such as solar, hydro, wind, and electricity, in line with global energy transition goals.
